Valentine’s Day

February 14 is Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day.  It originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast day honoring Saint Valentine who was executed on February 14 about the year 270.

Gradually, February 14 became a date for exchanging love messages, poems and simple gifts such as red roses and chocolate.

Although it is not a public holiday, it is as a commercial celebration in many regions around the world.
